If I am recording to both SD cards at the same time do these cards need to be the same size?
Also - twice now I given cards to editors who are editing in final cut, they are successfull in reading and downloading the 32gig class 10 SanDisk but the 64gig class 10 SanDisk are not reading at all.
They read fine on my PC, anybody know what's up with this?

They do not need to be the same size, no. But when one of the cards is full, recording will stop, even if the other card had available space.

Perhaps your FCP editors don't have SDXC-capable card readers?

thanks for the quick response.
So if i have a 32gig in slot 1, a 64gig in slot 2 - when the 32 gets full and i replace with an empty card, will the file names or sequences continue in a numbered order or will the files over-write themselves?
I gave them the same card reader that worked on my PC - let them figure it out.
One more question, the 160a came with a disc with what I though was software to restore or recover files.
I don't see any software when you open the files on the disc the program is there to use but not down load?
Your book that came with the camara is a lifesaver as usual.

I don't know whether the file names would continue on or not... i haven't tried such a test.

And I admit I didn't even look at the CD that comes with the 160. I would imagine it has something like the owner's manual, maybe AVCCAM Viewer, and maybe the AVCCAM restorer, but I really don't know, I didn't even put it in the drive. :)

Glad to hear you found the book useful!

If the mac OS is not yet updated to, or later(Leopard snow 10.6.6) they'll never read from that card reader regardless of whether the card worked on your PC or not.
