Duel Adapter Issues

Just got my HPX500 from abelcine. Love the camera so far (though that pesky black and white viewfinder hurts my 21st Century eyes).

I'm having a problem with the Duel Adapter for my mac book pro. I couldn't splurge for the p2 reader/store at this time so I went with the adapter. I installed the software off their site, restarted as prompted and then inserted the adapter--per the instructions.

My machine doesn't seem to be seeing it. Anyone have any ideas or experience with this?

I didn't see it on my desktop either. Look for it on the top menu bar on the right.

Hmm. Still doesn't show up. You need to restart it and then plug in the adapter and then the card, correct? Where does it show up with you exactly? near the date/time?
 
Yes near the date and time. I had the same problem initally. I called Tech support at Dual adapter. They are a big help.
 
So much for that...they tell me it might be a problem with the unit but we didn't really cover much over the phone. Did you/anyone have to install any other drivers other than the Dual Adapter version 1.0.4?
 
Yeah, I installed the p2p driver....still nothing. getting a new one from abelcine tomorrow so ill find out if it's the unit or I'm screwing something up
 
So I think my problem is that I was trying to plug it into my macbook upside down. Thing is the "right" way (if I am doing this wrong) doesn't click in at all while the side with the serial number on it fits in more or less. Anyone? :(
 
It goes in right side up. Had no probs with mine. Make sure you have the latest drivers and P2 software. The driver that comes with the Adapter will NOT work.

PS. Trust me, B&W viewfinders are better than color ones for exposure and focus control. If you want to check color balance use a monitor
 
SO it turns out that my macbook pro's express card cage is messed up and needs to be replaced was built wrong. Just figured I'd end the thread myself:)
