Duclos 11-16

Yep some have play, some are too tight. If its too big a deal then you can throw some money at it by sending it to Duclos for a lube and rebuild. It's a good lens for the money, but apparently there were quality control issues during the build process.

Although if you are sending it in for the front end job maybe Red can look it over.

Might be worth noting that the Duclos 11-16 comes in Canon EF and Nikon F mounts as well. Personally, I just use the stock Tokina 11-16 with a Novoflex Nikon-MFT adapter and all works fine. The Tokina is built like a tank from the factory. A lot of hay is made about the "reverse" focus ring on Nikon lenses, but I don't see what the big deal is. I regularly pull focus on both Canon and Nikon lenses and I rarely notice unless someone points it out. You get used to both. Like driving a stick or an automatic.

In my case it's like riding a bike my entire life, and then having to peddle backwards now with certain bikes.
Sure it's doable but I screw up enough to not want to deal with it.
Plus I'm trying to build up my PL kit.
I'll try and post comparison pics when I get a chance.

Sorry I'm a bit late to this discussion. The Duclos 11-16mm certainly isn't for everyone. I'll resort to my old car comparison...
If you just need to get from point A to point B, all you need is a Honda. If you want a little more performance, you buy a Porsche.
The optics in our re-housed version are identical to the stock Tokina which are both parafocal.
But we do put the lenses through a rigorous tuning process that really brings out the quality in the lenses.
Of course, you could get an adapter for the stock Tokina and obtain aperture control.
If that solution fits your needs, then that is likely the best option. There's a lens for everyone. Choose wisely. ;)

Mr. Sota,

So, here's a question for you: In Tokina/Nikon mount, does this lens focus the same direction as a Nikon???
