"Dual Adapter" still the way?i know it's here somewhere but is the "Dual Adapter" still the best way to
capture P2 card footage with my MacBookPro (older version 10.4.11, 2GHZ,
2GB sdram)? and if it is who is the best suppiler? 1st post & not sure where
this post belongs. thank you for any help

It depends...

The Duel Adapter is a fine product that has kept up with the high change.

This is purely my opinion, but dumping the P2 into the Mac is no longer very efficient based on all the glitches and the seemingly incomplete software tools available. Again, in my opinion, P2CMS is like having to run around the block when all you want to do is get next door.

It could be as easy as plug the card into the Duel Adapter, drag and drop the Contents and Lastclip to a folder of your choice, delete the files on the P2 (or reformat if Mac had a P2 Viewer like the pc)

Unfortunately, that easy scenario is just not the case at this time with the Mac.

There are a couple of issues. see http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=118672

Until the reported Mac glitches are fixed, I'm going back to dumping the P2 cards into a PC laptop. It still has the simplicity described above. The downside is that I have to take the time to copy the files from the PC external drive to the Mac external drive. I think that is probably a wash considering I would want to make a P2 card backup anyway.

I still plan to use Raylight on the Mac.

Is this a Leopard introduced issue ? I'm using Tiger still and having no problems with drag and drop from a Duel adapter.

Why was the referenced thread closed?

Dump the Mac for Now?

Dump the Mac for Now?

1st...thanks "Indy" for your help ( and all others)
if i was to come at it like you, which OS in a PC should i be using? and would we still
be talking about the Dual Adapter into the PC?

XP still seems to be the OS that works with most 3rd party softwares and drivers. I've purposefully avoided Vista until softwares catch up.

With the mature standards in XP, I would think most pcmcia adapters would work just fine with the P2 drivers.

Many laptops still come with a built in pcmcia. As far as an external adapter, I've not used one for the PC; however, Duel has worked just fine for the Mac, and they have made an effort to keep up with the Panasonic and P2 changes.
