I started out making a viewfinder but ended up with this instead. Mounts on the hot-shoe and is made from one of those Helping Hands magnifiers for soldering etc. Adjustable so it can be viewed from different angles when mounting on shoulder supports etc.
what all components did you have to buy? sell me one man! it doesn't look complicated but i am in the midst of a shoot and don't have time to build one but we need something like this to help us out!!!
You can get them for about $5 with shipping. Then just dis-assemble it and make what I have here (just like your old erector set)
Now the attachment to the hotshoe is just a piece of metal (or better yet plastic) cut to 1" x 3/4" and held on with one of the dew-hickeys. (it has to be fairly thick to fit snuggly in the hotshoe)
It will now attach to the hotshoe and you can adjust it however you need. It also swings away quickly. Make sure you are careful and not getting focused light back on the LCD and burning a hole in it.
P.S. If you need one immediately and want to pay more I think they have them at RadioShack
But if you guys really really don't want to make it I'll sell you one of mine for $25 for all the sweat and hard labor I put into it.
i had boulder send me one for $25... i am done with it so if anyone wants this feel free to pm me. i will pass the $25 price on to you (just give me a few bucks for shipping and if you are using paypal a few bucks for that too). i can ship it off just whenever...
it is a good cheap solution in lew of a viewfinder, but outside in the sun it's better to have a viewfinder. I used it untill I broke down and bought a LCDVF knockoff
