DSLR 24p

Hi,

I'm interested in purchasing a DSLR, most likely leading to a T2i, maybe a 5D or 7D.

Just wondering, I've heard the Panasonic GH1 shoots 24p in a 60i wrap? Or something to that effect?

What does this exactly mean? Doe the Canon's shoot true 24p?

Thoughts on any of this?

Thank you.

AFAIK, no dslr shoots true 24p. You get an NTSC variant of it, 23.97. Go to 24p.com for more enlightened comment than mine.

The GH1 is the only one that does not shoot native 24p, the Canon offerings all do.However, the GH1 footage can be conformed to an easily edited version by use of Cineform Neoscene or another specialty program. This also converts it to an easily edited codec.

Non-native means it goes through some sort of encoding to reach 24p. In the case of the GH1, it's a 60i stream recorded in a pattern that results in the equivalent of 24p. In order to create an actual 24p file you have to undo the process. The Canon cameras don't have the encoding, so you can just use them straight out of the camera without changing anything. Meaning it's native.
