OTHER: Drawing With Chalk Feature Film Trailer

And jls4, your suggestions made the film much stronger (I really should try to get you another cut). Good luck with your festival run too! :)

Cool! And I thought I might have been too hard. I'm glad I could help. Yeah, getting to festivals is -ahhhh- a pain. But getting into one feels so great!

Fantastic...I'd seen this thread for a while but for some reason hadn't been able to view the trailer previously and Joseph was always talking about this movie so I was curious but MAN...pretty freakin' SWEET! A movie after my own heart...a music movie.

Good luck on your festival run and don't give up on Distribution...it certainly looks like it can make a dent on DVD.

When I saw the trailer for this film.. I thought it was about me..

I'm not as old as the guys in it, but I've been through the....

"I want to be a rockstar phase"

I quit my job on a whim because I got irritated with management and wound up using that as an opportunity to fulfill my dream. I was already married, and my wife supported me at first.. but eventually all the touring and time I spent on music wrecked our marriage. We had to move her sister and kids in with us to pay for everything, and that was a nightmare. Eventually I came to my senses and moved on.. but it was a rough journey. Now, I have a great wife and a great son to show for it. I don't regret my choices.. but it was tough to give up a dream like that. Now I have new dreams, that work with my family.

I can't wait to see this film.

Wow.

This is why we made the film. There are so many of us in a similar situation and as another person had put it "It gave guys like me a voice."

Thank you so much for your story.

Todd

Thanks Martin,

This is a nice music movie too (no, we don't break out into dance at the factory). And I hope you are right that we can make a dent on DVD. I'll definitely try to find dwc a home with a distributor, but at the very least it already has a home. The advantage of a distributor is netflix (I can still submit the film to them but they prefer a 3rd party).

Hey all

Just happened to run into one of the members of BendFilm's selection committee at breakfast yesterday. Was very complimentary toward DWC! There will be a total to 90 films this festival, don't have an exact breakdown between features, docs and shorts.

Venue assignments and scheduling will be out in next few days - will keep you posted. Best wishes & Good Luck !

Todd,

I love this movie! It popped up in my dvd changer a week ago, I said sure! (already seen it 5 times). It's very well done. There is just something about the story that keeps drawing me back, could be I'm about your age and was in a band (played the guitar) when I was a teeneager, dunno, can't pin it but the story pulls you in.

Just saw a commercial for the Idaho International Film Festival, saw that Drawing With Chalk was playing, and nearly jumped out of my chair. Very excited to see it.

Pixelated, very cool that BendFilm liked DWC. Looking forward to the festival and I hope you make it! Once the schedule is out I'll let everyone know when DWC is playing. See you in Bend!

ChipG, I AM going to send you the latest and greatest cut :) Sixth time's a charm...

RallyMonkey, very cool that DWC made the commercial. It's going to be mind numbing to open that festival. If you're there, make sure you introduce yourself!

Hey Don't forget me. And this time (if you think you've perfected it) I want the disc signed. "To jls4, my number one fan."

LOL

Congratulations on the premiere. I loved the film. Sorry I didn't get a chance to introduce myself after the film. Thanks for coming out to Idaho and sharing the premiere with us, hope you enjoy yourself.

Thanks! Idaho has been great. I do wish we had a bigger showing but the crowd was responsive. Getting ready for screening #2 right now.

At BendFilm we are showing on Friday Oct. 9th at 3pm. Not a great slot, but still proud to be in the festival. Not sure when we screen in NYC for the MIAAC fest but will update once I find out.

I really want to see this, i didnt expect to like it as much as i did, good trailer, a bit too long though maybe 30seconds shorter, but aside that it looks like a well driven story, i already like the characters, and the story is something people can relate too, great job.

The Idaho Festival was fantastic! DWC was very well received and had a lot of people talking. Now getting ready for the BendFilm festival next week. Also was accepted to the Big Apple Film Festival but had to regrettably decline due to the NYC premeire requirement from the MIAAC festival (where Slumdog had it's NY premiere last year).

Bruce Fletcher (the program director from IIFF) really liked DWC and is going to help recommend the film as we continue to pursue the festival circuit. It was amazing to open a festival on a 40 foot screen...

Glad to hear the progress. I knew DWC would do well. I knew it in my gut. How did the Panasonic hold up on the 40 foot screen? You can PM me if you like, just curious because of the way the camera processes information.
