Guys do you think that a tascamdr100 stickked to a pole with a redhead windscreen could be a good choice for an interview in exterior landscape? No other mics allowed
I mean setting it in onni function could it be good? The mic close to the mouth...
thank you

No, it is not a good choice for several reasons. One, all your controls and metering are removed from access, so how do you fix problems in the field? You'll have to run a headphone cable down the fish pole to make sure that you can monitor as you record. Also, using a stereo mic configuration means that one mic is always off-axis. Dialog is a mono sound source, so you'll either have to collapse the stereo image into mono (which is not advisable at all as it will cause phasing issues), or you'll need to split the stereo channels and ditch one of them in post while keeping the one that is on-axis. Problem is, swinging a stereo mic array on a pole for dialog means that it won't be the same mic constantly on-axis.

Omnidirectional is even worse! It will pick up EVERYthing, including the background and anything coming from the crew. Omni works for lavs because of placement and proximity. It will NOT work the same for a pole-mounted mic... much less two of them!

No other mics allowed

Well, then... it still isn't a good choice, but it also sounds like you have no choice. In that case, you do what you can with what you have. Use the cardioid mics, get close, and try to keep things locked down (mic, shot, and talent) to keep one of the mics constantly on-axis.

If there is any way at all that you can arrange for a proper shotgun with wind protection, do it. It seems a little silly that you'd be allowed to put this clunky recorder on a pole or stand, but not allowed to use a proper mic?

Hallo guys,

thank you for your recomendation....
i typed wrong, i meant to write Unidirectional sorry...
It's a challenge and i pointed out that with that kind of gear.... the results would not be the best. TO stay in a little jungle and shot a 24 hours documentary with just that gear is not the best. Neither Gopros are allowed....
Just 1 camera , one mic (ZOom h4 or Tascam) one monopod one pair of headphones (that's it)! Very survivor style....

Thank you for the kind suggestions
