Buyer Beware

Buyer Beware

I'm really hesitant to post this, but maybe it will save someone else the hassle I've just gone through.

I purchased a three light kit from this seller 3 days ago and sent payment through paypal. He emailed back confirming the sale and letting me know he would ship next day and email me a tracking number.

Returning from work the next day I checked for his email and tracking number, but none had arrived.

Later that night I received three emails from him saying he no longer could sell them to me and that he had sent my money back through western union. Two of the emails had pictures attached of the light kit (minus one light) and he said that he would sell me those if I was interested in making an offer. That is the kit he currently has for sale here.

The next day, after having to leave work early to go to western union, I finally did receive my money back. My money was not stolen, so I won't call him a thief. He's obviously not that. However, he did reneg on our deal, then had the nerve to ask if I wanted to make another offer on a smaller kit. And, he did waste a great deal of my time, so buyers should beware that he is not the most honorable guy around. He should really be ashamed of himself.

Insomaniac, i think you should be ashamed of yourself.

I have sold HVX'S, Sound Devices recorders, mixers and never a complain.

Obviously some people dont respect honesty these days. I couldnt sell the three lights right away, so i emailed this insomaniac right away that i didnt want to short him a light and I gave him a WESTERN UNION number right away so he gets his money RIGHT AWAY within 10 minutes. pretty dishonest eh.

so let me see, i was prompt, courteous, honest and willing to pay a $39 fee from my pocket so the buyer gets his money right away. The buyer also didnt respond to me EVEN after several emails. I had to go to western union, and they checked their systems to confirm that the buyer really picked up the money. Then again, if i was like the OTHER kind of people, i could have taken the money and shorted him a light, but we are UNLIKE others.

thanks

WTF? A trend?

I too am hesitant to post, but the same thing happened to me back in April when he was selling a Quad core PC (as he was switching over to mac).

I paid via paypal and anxiously awaited the PC. He asked if he could hold off shipping for a few days to finish editing a wedding video. Fine.

I then received an email saying that he had tried the mac and fcp and hated them. He informed me that he was no longer selling the PC and had sent my money back via western union. I was afraid I had been scammed, but the money indeed was there the next day (though it cost me an hour of my time running around).

A week later, he contacted me saying he had decided to sell again. He even dropped the price a little for my troubles. I don't know what I was thinking, but I said okay and sent the money, again.
The next day I got an email saying that because his lowel lights didn't sell, he couldn't afford to buy himself a new computer and therefore the deal was off AGAIN. He sent back my money via paypal, but not all of it (missing $50). It took a few days for the full refund.

Through our email exchanges, the guy seemed pleasant and sincere enough, but it didn't make the experience any less frustrating.

To be clear, as insomniac61 pointed out, no money was stolen, but something isn't right here. Poor marketplace conduct, to say the least.

but you said you're interested in the lights, then YOU changed your mind, didnt mention that part eh.

I'm not going to get into a pissing match... but at no time did I say I was interested in buying your lights. Yes, I mentioned that I was looking for Arri's, but not your lights.

'nuf said.

This will be my final post on the subject. I hope all potential buyers heed my warning and steer clear of this guy. There is something terribly wrong with him.

All I did was make killfilm an offer on a three light kit, which he excepted. Here is a link to killfilm's original posting.

http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=118072

I immediatelty paid in full and killfilm agreed to ship the next day and send me a tracking number. The next day, when I was expecting to receive a tracking number for the shipment of lights I had purchased, I instead received an email in which he renegged on our deal. Yes, he did send back my money, but I fail to see how that makes things right. I did absolutely nothing wrong, yet was put in a position where I had to waste my time to go to a western union office to get my money.

Now killfilm actually has the nerve to say I should be the one to be ashamed. Is this guy on some kind of medication?

Killfilm says some folks don't respect honesty these days. I just about did a spit take when I read that. What exactly is honest about him taking someones money and then renegging on a deal? I'd love to hear killfilm explain how he had three lights on sale one day, then suddenly didn't have three lights a day after he had agreed on a deal, sent me a paypal request for cash and then promptly excepted my cash. When exactly did it occur to him that he didn't actually have three lights anymore? Then, after renegging on our deal, he offered to sell me a two light kit. Who in their right mind would make another deal with someone like that?

When I saw he had posted the lights up for sale again, I thought the right thing to do would be to let other members who might potentially be interested know what had transpired. My original posting was civil and was intended as a warning to other potential buyers.

I hope, with killfilm's reply, every one on this forum has seen his true colors. Saying that I should be ashamed is absolutely the most ludicrous thing I have ever heard. I feel sorry for this guy. He obviously has no clue what honesty and honor mean.

A great judge hears two sides to a story. A few users here will witness how well my transactions are costing in the thousands and not 675 that a maniac is talking about. First i put the lights up for sale, so maniac paypal right away. I had a change of heart and decided to keep one light and sell two.

Obviously, it would be unfair to send two lights instead of three. So i though ok, i refund the money to the maniac and then re-up the two lights for sale. pretty honest eh, so paypal needs 4 BUSINESS DAYS to transfer from my account to paypal.....that would take too long

So i thought it would be better and more fair to send the money back ASAP, so i paid western union $39, so the maniac gets his money right away. I emailed him within 10 MINUTES but he didnt answer till ONE DAY AFTER, infact he didnt even confirm he got his money. I had to go to western union to confirm that he received his money.

i think you're the one on medication, or need to see a counsellor about your racist behaviour. Stop PM'ING and harrassing me.

You get worked up over your $675 when i did transactions with people up to $5000. maybe one day you'll steal enough to get that. True colors, i think your colors are blind as you are a complete RACIST especially since you learned my background. The spit is on you HITLER.

And by the way, whats honest about me, some scammers can take your money and never visit the forum again, or send you a case stuffed with walmart lights. But instead i transferred your racist ass your money within 10 minutes, so i wouldnt have to feel bad i took too long. But HITLER was a communist after all.

Self defense and nothing more.

hi prince, so are you really a prince? just kidding. the lights are really powerful, so its good for large areas or you can put a scrim infront of the light to bring it down.

1000 watts is pretty strong, but depends if you need it for large areas

deal! hmmm, i will go 575 plus 100 shipping, so 675 final.

its gonna cost me alot to ship because of the weight. just send me a private message with your information.
