Brevis 35 Production Tests: XL1s, XL2, DVX, HVX, VX2100

man that shot with the cases was one of the sexiest things i have ever seen. damn.. i need to saaaave.

So how does this thing go up against the G35?

I heard Cinemek is making the G35 with GG..and its original stationary was around 500 or so..

the footage looks good from the HVX...but id realyy wanna see how it could hand DVX footage with perhaps low lighting situations like night time filming or something.

I am hoping mine comes on Monday afternoon. Monday night I'll be in Vegas. So if I have it, I'll shoot some shots while I'm out in Vegas... it'll be cool for night shots!

I cant say what the footage will look like yet since I just got it but I shot and lit a bunch of interior livingroom scenes and rooftop night scenes for Jack Daniel Stanley's Hero fest using 2 Letus35's and from what I hear the footage looks absolutly amazing. Check it out in the fest.
Im sure I can get equal if not better looking footage with the Brevis since it seems to be engineered much better. Im shooting my hero fest entry and even though its going to be more post work and less in camera scene setup im sure you will be able to tell. Im sure I will do a setup or two in camera though.

I received it yesterday, and as Aram said, it's awesome! Really lightweight and sturdy. I am having some trouble aligning it to my camera and getting focused on the GG. Still working on it.

I ordered my brevis 35 witt m42 mount. I have to wait two weeks :(
anyone knows the best option for macros - achromat dipter solution for the DVX? I have a B&W 62 mm. diopter but I don´t know if they are a good choice....

Brandon, check out the cinevate forum for some help with your DVX...I'll be back at home base in about a week...but I'm checking in remotely too.

I'm really happy you guys are liking things so far. I was completely stressed about leaving home right after sending the units out. I wanted to get them out, and at the same time had a family committment for some quality family time. So far so good, some minor issues to address...but I'm really looking forward to some footage.

I can't wait to play with mine, but I'm in the middle of a friggin move . Dennis can you hook me up in the Beta forum, i can't login there yet.

Ok, I'm back from some great family time...

There a fair bit of footage, however the boys are keeping it under wraps until the new achromats arrive. I've seen some really great stuff, but with some chromatic aberations from the singlet macros we've been using. I learned my lesson on posting compromised footage. I'm positively pumped to get the achromats in my hands...about three weeks.

Initial comments from an HVX customer are extremely positive. The footage was referred to as "gorgeous".

Two units of 13 were damaged in shipping, so I'm making some minor changes to prevent this from happening again. The beta guys have been super patient and extremely helpful. Provided feedback has already been implemented in tweaks to the construction technique. A big thanks to the "boys".

I just got an update on the long awaited achromat lenses that I'm having made. The 72mm "beta" lens is being coated as I type, and will be in my hands hopefully by next week. There's a collection of folks patiently waiting for these, and I'll be relieved to get these out in their hands :-) Expect the footage floodgates to open shortly thereafter. It's a frustratingly long and expensive process, but the results will be well worth the wait.

I can't wait, this is what im waiting for. May the footage floogates bo opened!!!! Whats your final price looking like with the new glass?

Final price for the adapter/case/charger package will be adjusted slightly, to reflect the gaining strength of the Canadian dollar....or I'll just quote the price in Canadian dollars. It will remain relatively unchanged other than the monetary adjustment. There are some design changes based on feedback so far, but these should not increase the unit cost.

The rails system is now being CNC'd entirely and I hope to actually drop the price on it.

The 72mm coated achromat, for cams requiring it, should be well under $150 US (beta group will be less).

Optically, there are no changes. The changes are related to internal construction and a potential tweak to the rear chassis part that will allow some XY adjustment.
