Hi guys,
Simple questions I hope:
How can I download footage from P2 cards to PB12 without the Panasonic expenxive P2card player/reader ? My PB15" has a PCMI card readser but the PB12 doesn't?
Are there external readers you know about ?
Thanks. and have a great 2006
Alex

The camera itself can be used as a card reader, for one. Just plug it in via firewire and it'll show up on your desktop as an external hard disk.

There are also some external USB readers available; I bought one to try but it was a hunk of junk so I don't know of any good ones yet.

i'm going to try to avoid use of the hvx's firewire port. that's why the cineporter is more appealing than the firestore. for p2, i plan on inserting into my powerbook's pcmcia slot.

barry, if i have a bus powered firewire drive connected to my powerbook, do i simply drag the p2 files into this drive?

This is the issue I've been trying to push.

It doesn't seem to raise a lot of concern.

You need a USB 2.0 or firewire 32-bit Type II Card reader.

Not a Compact Flash II card reader.

Can't find one.

It is the easiest way to overload footage.

Anybody?

Mind you, I bought one of those to try out, and it felt like a flimsy piece of -- junk -- but I figured, hey, what the heck, so I put the card in and it didn't recognize it at all (the light didn't come on). Great. So I eject the card and -- oh, wait, I can't eject the card. The eject just doesn't work. Wonderful.

After a while hacking with a screwdriver and totally destroying the device, I got the card back.

So no, I don't recommend it. But if this one's out there, likely there are others as well...
