Downconverting question

Shooting HD to P2 and then off loading to a storage device, will I then be able to downconvert from the storage device to the camera's dv tape?

Good question, I think so. Has anyone shot P2, offloaded to HD and then later loaded the info back on the P2 and downconverted?? This would be great for clients to off-line footage from the DV tape.

I have formated my P2 cards and then put the "Content" and "Last Clip.txt" files back
on the cards. The camera can play the clips back just fine so I would guess you wouldn't have any problems downcoverting to DV tape.

Why not do the downconversion in the camera before putting it onto the storage device. I did it yesterday and it looks great. Very easy to do and now I know what a few more buttons do!... lol

Well, one reason was to speed up shooting. To downconvert to dv is real-time but if we could do it after a whole days work while only offloading P2...

What's the reason for the downconversion? Backup, editing in DV, dailies?
