Hey everyone,

So we decided to shoot a Doritos commercial this year and I have to tell you I have a lot of respect for those of you that do 30 second commercials on a regular basis from script to screen.

In this case you have a 3 second Doritos Animation, so you really only have 27 seconds to get your message across and sometimes things that you think are funny just have to drop on the cutting room floor.

So the Crash the Superbowl site has some funny spots and some duds, but we hope that people find our spot entertaining. I know we all had a lot of fun shooting it! We had a BBQ the night before with the cast and crew and just had a great time bonding over a fire pit as we rehearsed the script/action for the shoot. I was motivated and inspired to do this after being on Shane Hurlbut's Illumination Tour (Which was amazing!) and remember laughing as actor Larry Pinto played his parts in the scenes we recreated during the Workshops. I mentioned to Larry, it was too bad he was on the tour as he would be great of the spot. Larry was like, "dude I'm in". Trouble was, Larry was traveling as a Grip/Actor on the tour. He had a short break with the tour, so he flew in, we had one day to shoot and one day for rain out during the break in the tour… we lucked out with weather and schedules for cast and crew. My photographer friend Tony had the look I wanted for the other key character and he's such a likable guy I knew he would be right for the part. (green jacket guy)… He was a bit apprehensive as he had never acted before, but I reassured him he'd be great…

I can't say enough about the people on this shoot… it was one of the most fun shoots ever… You know when everything clicks and everyone get's along and it's just the perfect setting to really enjoy work. It was that day.

So this was shot in 4K with the Canon 1Dc so please make sure to increase the Youtube quality on the site. We used one Arri 200 HMI with 2 battery packs and a 4 x 4 bead board and shot at Dawn into early morning and again at Dusk. We used a Canon 24mm L and the Canon 50mm L. We also had a Ninja Blade to view false colors. For some reason whenever I record in 4K the footage on the Ninjas comes out looking like bad interlace artifacts? It did not really matter here as we were after 4K and wanted to use the monitor for false colors. I would also mentioned we scouted the location 3 weeks out and used the Sun Scout app to get a good idea of the sun and it's position during our shoot times.

Thank you for your time and I hope my stream of conscious writing has not been too difficult to read. LOL @ Me!

We hope you enjoy our spot!
