I did start small, I've done 5 shorts or so and that's done nothing for me. I crewed on other peoples projects, and that's done nothing for me.
You can't quit at 22. That's how old I was when I had just moved to Los Angeles. That's about the age that most people start getting Internships and PA jobs... and still likely several years away from people taking you seriously pitching a million dollar project. Will be 22 in September, but she's paying for my health insurance. So if I go into college, I can get back on her job's health plan instead of her paying for it out of pocket. But at the same time she's going to be paying $2000 in tution fees.
Where do you live? And I can't seem to find any work. It seems like once I find out about a film or opprotunity in the area, they're either done shooting or half way though production. For example, the film "Standing Ovation" was literally shot 5 miles down the street, I didn't even know about it until it was released, a few months ago. They filmed in 2008 and 2009.
Reminds me of Morgan Freeman.
Born in 1937. Got his break on a kids TV show in 1971. His IMDB credits listed his first work as 1964. Took him 7 years AFTER HE WAS WORKING to get anything solid going. First film role was in Brubaker (Great movie by the way and I saw it on release) in 1980. Sixteen years in the business before his first film role. He was 43 by the time he got his first film role.
You're 22 years old.
Come on.
The shorts I made are gone; harddrive crash, being unorganized and losing the only DVD copy, things like that. I only have one VHS copy of a short I did.

If I can't be making enough money to live on, then it's clearly not worth it.
Well there's one issue there. The college I would goto has no film class, no media class, nothing that relates in anyway. Most film students go to Stockton, Rutgers or into NYC. Which I can't get into any of those.
If you do well at Community College for a year or two, I see no reason why you wouldn't be able to transfer into Rutgers, which I believe has a Cinema Program.Well there's one issue there. After 9 years of trying to get any project of the ground and failing every time, it's just no longer worth it. First came the Multi-Million dollar film, which never went anywhere....
Will be 22 in September...
BTW, at 22 I was drunk and incompetent. I had no home, no money and very poor personal hygiene. i didn't even start making movies until I was about 37. At 44 I am a moderately successful owner of my own production company whose credits include industrials, commercials, shorts and features. I own tens of thousands of dollars of my own gear, and have a great network of other professionals.
Why? Because I didn't quit.
