Does this sound unwise?

I have a shoot coming up in a couple weeks. It will be in a studio, fairly controlled, and straight-forward job.

I've never used the C300, and I thought of renting it. I would have the night before to practice with it.

I'm fairly familiar with the 5d, having rented and used it on shoots several times. And I'm familiar with panasonic/sony cameras.

From what I've heard, the C300 is pretty easy to use out-of-the box.
Does anyone have a sense if this is a good idea...to use the c300 with only one day of practice time?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Depends on how comfortable you are with the learning a camera quickly and using it right away. It is a fairly easy camera to use out of the box, with most controls accessible on the body and structured like you'd expect most proper cameras to be. It would probably help you out to use the menu simulator so you can familiarize yourself with the menu structure of the C300. I'd imagine most of your wasted time working with a new camera would be in just figuring out where options are in the menu.

Other than that, read the manual, especially in conjunction with figuring out the menu system. And when you get the camera, practice using it's on-board waveform to help you learn how the camera exposes under different gammas, and you should be just fine.

Here's the manual:

and here's a link to the color profiles I designed if you need them:

Good luck!

Hi cowpunchers (or any one else). Shoot is this week. There will be plenty of light...HMI mixed with sun/daylight. With that in mind, any suggested settings as far as ISO or shutter speed to get the cleanest image? I'm shooting 1080/24p.
