Does this look like a good tripod for the A1?

mmm B&H just loves upping their prices on everything. How this company does good is beyond me. Beyond me.
 
I have used that tripod and head for the fx1. The only other tripod & head I have used was a manfrotto with a bogen 503 head. Having used the model that you showed it seems perfect for locked positions, but it is not very mobile.
 
I would like to spend less than $1,000 if possible and I know the Focus would rock my world but......Is there any other way?

Not mobile enough huh? I need to think about that. I need stable and mobile.
 
For the work I do I am running around most of the time attached to my tripod. I certainly wouldn't want to carry that one around all day. Not very mobile as in a bit bulky and heavy for me at least.
 
Check out some of the Vinten on ebay. I use Vinten and I love it. I have 2 vinten pro touch 13. This is the old model I got from ebay only use for large camcorder. I saw it got a spring inside and interchangeable but I can't find a place to get a different spring. I guess I just put all kind accessory on the camcorder to make it 10 pound so I can use it with my tripod for the tilt. The pan of Vinten is perfect doesn't matter what weight you have as long as it smaller then the tripod head can hold. Get on ebay get some cheap stuff it may worth. Oh i got my two tripod only 700 buck. Brand new I guess 3000 buck. Buy a good one don't buy a cheap one end up useless and you still have to get another one. My vinten Protouch 13 is like more then 10 years old but beat out all the bogen I try new one right now.
 
Thanks but I went ahead and got the 503HDV set up from B&H for $636.

The new HDV head seems a little better than the original 503 so we shall see!
 
I have the same tripod you bought Veej. Beware of the legs though. The little rotating locker things are going out on mine, they slip and the legs slip out sometimes. I'm disappointed because I haven't had it that long. I'm going to be getting a new set of legs in the near future. But you may have better luck than I did.
