Does this exist? - film look conversion

There are a lot of techniques and even some software out there that applies a color change to the image and then a layer of stock or simulated film grain over the top of the video to create a film look.
But is there any software that actually takes each frame of the video and breaks it up into thousands or millions of little granuals that are slightly shifted in position for each frame?

Thanks for the links. I had never heard of that before. Though your middle link is wrong. It goes to the Adobe Pro Res announcement.

I did find this writeup though.

That seems close to what I'm looking for, but it's a little hard to tell since they don't get into the nitty gritty about what they actually do to the image. It's also a service rather than a plugin and seems like they mostly cater to productions that could probably afford to shoot film if they really wanted to. I'd like to see some footage shot on a GH4/5 or Canon DSLR or C series camera run through their process to see how it turns out. Something that doesn't have a whole professional crew lighting and set decorating the scene. I can take a 16mm camera and run and gun with it myself and it will still look like film. It may not look like good film, but well you know what I mean.

Ooops! Sorry about that. Yes the Provideocoalition link was the one I meant to send. Picked up the wrong one as I was looking at the ProRes on Windoz developments at the same time. I was curious about LiveGrain when i first heard about and agree it would be nice to see something like GH5 footage processed through it.

Agreed. Unless it has dynamic grain pattern algorithm that alters every frame as the grain structure does with film then most of the film emulation software and plugins kind of leave me cold. As a teenager of the '60s and learning my trade shooting and cutting film daily I've yet to see any digital emulation of film that truly looks and feels like film. Some processes come close but the combination of film grain at different ASA's, developing treatments, dev times and film cadence seem hard to emulate. Yes the times have changed and for the better overall but there are still some nostalgia moments for 'real' film. :)

Intuitively I was thinking the way to implement would be to Gaussian randomly sample around a disc (so that higher probability closer to original location then taper with distance) to shift pixels and that’s basically what they appear to be doing on the GPU (Poisson disc, Monte Carlo etc.). A simpler method could also work and be much faster. Maybe I’ll implement one in Metal for the iOS AR/VR app I’m working on.

My favorite film look plug-in is the "Shoot with an Arri Alexa/Mini/Amira" plug-in. Closest look to film I've ever seen after decades of shooting film and owning film cameras.
