I have a total newb question about my A1

When I record in 24f HDV do I have to use the downconvert to capture ? or can I capture with out downconverting?

Also how big is the difference is quality compared to 24f HDV and 24f SD 16x9
 
Just my opinion but I would say that the only reason to downconvert at capture is if your NLE can't handle HDV or if your system doesn't have the horsepower to handle HDV.

As for your second question, it really depends on your target delivery format. Naturally there is a significant resolution difference between HDV and DV. However, if you don't have HD display equipment, it's hard to appreciate the improvement. If your target format is a DVD or youtube, the footage will have to be downrezzed at some point anyway.

So there is a way to capture the footage with out down converting ?? Every time I try it doesnt work unless i turn on the downconvert.
