I have a GH2 mainly used for shooting dressage performances for later review of the rider. Works fine for the most part of following focus in video, as the horse and rider are always either moving toward or away from you. I was asked to shoot some stills and found that the monitor would freeze after shooting briefly so that when it came back live the horse had moved out of frame. Hard to frame and follow a performance when the viewfinder freezes. I'm wondering how the GH4 performs when shooting stills, does it also briefly freeze?
I use my Nikon d700 for the stills, with the mirror flopping up and down, and never lose site of the horse. The electronic viewfinder/monitor doesn't cut it for me. (I admit I've only used the flip-out monitor and not the eye level viewfinder for maybe that wouldn't freeze the same way as the monitor.
I'm loving what I see coming from the GH4, video wise. But still wise, I'm hesitant due to this issue.
