GH4 Does the GH4 monitor freeze after a still is shot like the GH2?

I have a GH2 mainly used for shooting dressage performances for later review of the rider. Works fine for the most part of following focus in video, as the horse and rider are always either moving toward or away from you. I was asked to shoot some stills and found that the monitor would freeze after shooting briefly so that when it came back live the horse had moved out of frame. Hard to frame and follow a performance when the viewfinder freezes. I'm wondering how the GH4 performs when shooting stills, does it also briefly freeze?
I use my Nikon d700 for the stills, with the mirror flopping up and down, and never lose site of the horse. The electronic viewfinder/monitor doesn't cut it for me. (I admit I've only used the flip-out monitor and not the eye level viewfinder for maybe that wouldn't freeze the same way as the monitor.
I'm loving what I see coming from the GH4, video wise. But still wise, I'm hesitant due to this issue.

By default the GH4 is setup to automatically review photographs for two seconds after their capture.

This can disabled in the Auto Review menu by changing the Duration Time to off.

By default, yes, but it's a setting that can be changed.

Alternately, you could elect to roll a 4K video of the performance and grab stills from that (effectively doing both stills and video simultaneously)

There's also an option to take discreet stills while rolling video (1080 video only, though, I think), with no pause in the video recording

Granted I didn't do a lot of still images with the GH2, but IMO the GH4 soundly and resoundingly kicks its sweet little patoot up and down the street twice a day except on Sundays.

Yes it does. The only cameras I've seen that don't freeze are the Nikon 1 cameras (from 2nd generation onwards).

Thanks, There is probably a similar menu item sor the GH2 then. As usual, read the instructions before throwing the camera against the wall. It didn't occur to me that there would be an instant review the image instead of just going on shooting. On Nikons, there is a seperate action needed, the down arrow button push, to review images captured. Thanks, Bern.

This would be the best of all options, choosing in post for a still, (usually only a smaller print anyways.

Yes turning the Auto review to off helps, but the screen still goes dark, albeit briefly. Longer than a Mirror camera, but it is what it is. When shooting with 4K and pulling a still, the shutter speed used generally for 24fps is 1/50th, so one would be subject to motion blurring of the subject. Not to much of an issue with Dressage, but certainly a concern with Jumpers. I can see a GH4 in my future. Thanks for the info.

Shouldn't bee an issue then. I broke out the GH2 and changed the menu item as you suggested. I'll take up north hunting tomorrow and play with it. Thanks for you help, Bern.
