does the gh2 come with a memory card?

No memory card, no In-Body stabilization, no ac power adaptor...

So you need a memory card at a minimum, and I'd recommend you read the forum post on GH2 and GH1 setup,
because the User manual is arguably one of the worst I've seen in years...

Thanks, I'm actually reading the manual online until I get the cam, but hadn't gotten to that part yet. Could you recommend some bang for the buck memory cards? So you're saying I need stabilization? I only have vintage lenses with 4/3 adapters.

I've had bad luck with Transcend and Sandisk and recommend LExar, but this is like politics and religion...

Best value for money right now is the 16GB Transcend Class 10 for $26 from Amazon. I use several of these cards and they have never let me down.

You'll do just fine without image stabilization. I have one OIS lens and have had a series of old lenses with adapters - you just can't shoot any slower than about 1/30th of a second, like the old days. No big deal.

What you will probably need though, in addition to the SD card, is extra power. My battery has run out in less than a full day of shooting and there is no AC adapter included. If you want AC power, you'll need to buy a DMW-DCC8 coupler (only place I've been able to find them is Unique Photo for $25, shipping included) and a separate 8.4V AC adapter. The Panasonic adapter is about $60, so I bought this one at Amazon for $25 and it worked just fine.

All of that said, the GH2 is a fabulous camera -- I hope you enjoy it as much as the rest of us do.

Hey Brunerww,
Just picked up a gh2 also today.
Really appreciate you embedding the links for coupler, and adapter and card.

Damn, I need a coupler AND an adapter, why can't I just use an adapter. Anyways, I got a ton of those adapters with different tips and polarity switches so I'll have to dig some of those out. Any tips on where to get good deals on extra batteries?

I'm sure you'll find something. You'll need to use 8.4V, even though the battery is 7.2V.

Video Direct says they have them in stock for $69.95 plus shipping.

There is also this non-Panasonic replacement battery from Amazon for $23.54 (shipping included). I have not tried one of these yet, so I can't vouch for it, but since it's from Amazon you can send it back if you're not satisfied.

I have heard of problems with the panasonic SD card./....I'd stick with a card you can trust, and that card is TRANSCEND class10 32gb. (58.00)

So I bought the Kingston 16gb class 10, as they didn't have any transcend. It does have the A01 in the serial, so I'm crossing my fingers. Hopefully I'll get the gh2 within the next few days. Is there a way to test the card for errors? Like record the whole card or something?
