Does the Canon XA10 record separate audio tracks to edit?

Hey all,

I rented the XA10 for a wedding recently and I set up all the settings to what i thought was best for my needs. I used a Sennheiser Lavaliere and a Shotgun mic, both directly into the XA10's XLR ports. Once i got the footage into FCP i realized that there was only one audio track with both audio sources on it. Now the audio sounded great but i couldn't lower each mic independently in editing. If I wanted to lower the lav mic it would also lower the shotgun mic and vise versa. I'm just getting back into wedding videography and aside from this issue, i liked the XA10. Did i do something wrong in the camera settings or in the FCP settings? Or does the XA10 only record all audio to one track? I have tried to research the answer to my question with no luck. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Johnny

Since no-one's answered, the XA10 does record L and R stereo tracks. You have to split them into two mono tracks in FCP to adjust them independently.

Thank you for the response. That is great news. Now i just gotta learn fcp a bit more and figure out how to do that lol. Thanks again.
