Does Image Stabilization work when using an adapter?

If I have a nikon with image stabilization but am using a nikon to canon adapter to hook it up to the 7d will the image stabilization work?

I would think not. I'm pretty sure it needs to consume some battery life to do such a job, and without the proper adapter, the camera will not feed the lens anything.

Only in-body IS will work (not Canon in which it is in the lenses). IS in the lenses will not work unless it is Canon.

What a bummer having IS and not being able to use it -

It's a requisite for any decent handheld work
