Does HMC have that "panasonic color" everyone talks about?

Hello,

I'm about to pull the trigger on a prosumer camera. Living in North Idaho, there is no way I can find an HMC to rent to find out for myself. I understand the HMC has a 4:2:0 color space and the HVX200a has 4:2:2. I'm just wondering if side-by-side, would you be able to tell the difference in the color? How does it stack up against the HVX's "colors" that everyone talks about.

I understand what color space does for you as far as post color corrections, etc... but I'm just wondering how much this actually matters when you're out there shooting. I'm going to be doing a lot of landscapes/action sports.

Thanks!

It stacks up plenty fine for sure. I've had both and so far the only difference I've seen is in terms of greenscreen keying. The HVX was much more forgiving and seemed to key easier, but other than that they are pretty much the same image. You can't also put a price on the ability to shoot and shoot and shoot with the 150. I shot over 2 hours of slow mo HD today and on the HVX that would have taken 120 gigs worth of P2. So it would have been card swapping and instead I had a couple of SD cards and bingo.

Please, it's called "Panasonic Mojo" or "Panny Mojo." If you're going to refer to it, call it by the proper name.

:D

Oh cool. Yeah, we actually have a basketball team worth watching this year. Next year should be even better.

Thanks for all the help! I should be ordering this camera today or tomorrow. Looks like BH has it for $3199 no shipping/no tax.
