Does a hacked GH1 accurately estimate remaining recording time?

It seems like I'm not able to fit as much video on a card as the camera estimates. Am I just not paying close enough attention, or does a raised bitrate compromise the camera's estimation?

Never mind. Through testing I have figured out that the camera estimates based on current bitrate, so the estimate goes down quickly when recording high detail, and when recording the inside of my lens cap, I could fit at least six hours on a 32GB card.

camera estimate remaining time based on constant size of frame (there are some constant in code for different modes). so if bitrate are higher - estimation divergence also bigger.

You could estimate minimun time by operating:

CardSize/60*(Bitrate/8) = MinTimeRemain

Where Cardsize is in MegaBytes, bitrate is in Megabits (if is in MBytes, delete "/8" at the end) and MinTimeRemain is in minutes. This is a estimation with constan bitrate, which ACVHD doesn't use, so depending image recorded, you could obtain some minutes more.

By example, I estimate we could record 100 minutes high detail FHD images with a 32 GB (31000 MB formated) card and 41 Mbps lpowell settings.

31000/60*(41/8) = 100'81 minutes
