Do you use Google?

Google images would be reeeeally nice.

Another thing (I'm so particular), is that when I open Isara, it takes about 2 seconds for the cursor to start flashing in the search box.

I'm so accustomed to double clicking and beginning to type. It is just bothersome, and little things like that might be the breaking point between someone making it their homepage or not.
 
I'm trying to figure out if having the image search breaks part of the user agreement with them. A lot of people have reqested it so I'll make it happen, some way or another. By Monday you should see it. :)

bball - You're right, it does take a while for the page to load. :( I will remove some things from the frontpage, to speed things up.


EDIT: A link has been added to Google's Image search (below the main search). Also, the calendar and random image modules were removed to speed things up. They didn't provide any real value anyway (or did they?). The homepage was making 144 database requests prior to the removal. Now it makes only 82 requests. That should speed things up a bit. I'll also spend the weekend optimizing the frontpage to make it load even faster.

You know what would be *even* cooler PK? If you could have a 2nd button for searching images directly from the front page.

I wish google had this, I hate having to open a new page to get the same search box for a different serach! Come on PK, Isara can beat google!

Mikko - There is an option for a smaller search box, located on the left menu. It has a drop down menu where you can select any search engine you want. So you can search everything from About to eBay to Yahoo. It also searches Google Images.

Still trying to find out if having other search engines (on the same page as Google search) is allowed in their user agreement for AdSense.
 
PK I have a question.

I know you made the website load faster, but does that have anything to do with when the cursor starts flashing in the search box?

I would think that the moment the google search box loads the cursor would come too, but it's about 1.5 seconds behind.

It's fine if this isn't fixable, just curious.

Maybe it is just different when your loading the page, but for me, the page may be partially loaded to the point where I can see the google search box, but the cursor doesnt pop up until the page is fully loaded. So possibly, to you whats a delay, is just the webpage working normally.
 
Yea, it looks as though the cursor must wait until the entire page loads, which means the Google Ads (the biggest delay) must load first. :( But you can just click in the search box, while the page loads, and by the time you're finished typing "nude pictures of HVX200" the page would have loaded. :)

I want to make the site as user friendly as possible, but I hope 1 or 2 seconds isn't going to keep people from helping the less fortunate.

I don't think the delay should be that big of a deal. Sure you can go to google and see the cursor in the box while the page is loading, but the google page doesnt have as many items to load. If having to wait an extra 2 seconds discourages people from going to isara and helping out, then thats really unfortunate.

That's great. :) But there's nothing wrong with being picky. If your suggestions help me speed up the site by even .5 seconds. Then, over time, that can save everyone a lot of time. I don't think we can ever get it as quick as Google, but we're already quicker than MSN and Yahoo. :)

Keep the suggestions coming.

I know, Theres nothing wrong with noticing the little things and pointing them out to try and help overall make something better. I was just making my comment in a general sense.
