And to the OP: if you ask me, the RAW on the 50D is just a gimmick. I said I'd take RAW any day, but it has to be sharp too, and that camera has too low resolution to start with. If I was shooting video with it (and I might some day, my sister has one) I think I'd feel as if the camera is fighting to make it as difficult as possible. 5D3+RAW or BlackMagic, that's the only game in town so far if you want RAW on a low price.
On a ~$1K budget, the choice would be between the D5200/D7100 and the GH2/GH3, and it will be mostly subjective (based on whether you prefer sharpness or DR and overall image). I'd throw my NEX-5N into the mix too, but some will complain it's already slightly outdated (it has some -not much- aliasing/moire, and the codec could be better).

I have the NEX-5N. A lot to love about that camera, 24p/60p, APS-C with adaptable mount, focus peaking and so on. My biggest issue with it I think is the ergonomics, it's just too small a body, especially when you add heavy lens and adaptor. And as I have a few Ai-S lenses, the D5200 would be an obvious choice, even without any light metering for the Ai lenses (also sharper, less moire, bit less jello, mic socket, compared to 5N).
If I got a D5200, it would be the main cam, with 5N for slow-mo.
But there is something incredibly intriguing about what ML have done with the 50D. Yes the process is involved, but hacking and fiddling and experimenting are things I enjoy (if you can get results at the end of it). Feel I could be missing out on something I'd like (and the 50D would take my Ai-S lenses, and might let me use spot-metering?)
But I take lyrov's point that if I got the 50D, the NEX would remain my main cam, and the 50D would be reserved for more experimental work. @Samuel I also take your point that right now the 5D Mk III is in a class of one when it comes to RAW.

I'm intrigued by the pocket cam, like everyone else. But the things I'd use it for - more "artsy" stuff - are when I at least want the option of 60p.
What's the best footage anyone has seen lately from a 1080/60 camera? With the 7100 shooting 720/60, that's an easy upgrade for me.
Wishing Sony would trickle-down their super high frame rates to something more affordable. Even getting 120fps at 1080 would be huge for me if the codec was clean - if it could key well, even better.
I can rent the Sony 700, about $500 for 3 or 4 days - but when I shoot stuff like that, rental is tough. I really like shooting effect layers in my studio and just sticking the card in my computer, going back & forth until I'm happy. It's a killer way to work, but it really demands having lights and cam setup for days and being able to jump in as time allows.

Well, if you already have a NEX-5N, I'm not sure how much you'll like the others. Yes, the D5200 (my choice if I had to buy today) is a step up in terms of IQ, but it's not a huge step: as you said, the little moire that the 5N has is gone in the D5200, rolling shutter is faster, and it is marginally sharper and with a tad better DR; lots of things, but none of them major.
I would say: borrow one and test it for yourself before you buy it. Or rent it. Or buy it at a place that will give you your money back if you want.

Yeah, I guess it's incremental changes, 3 steps forward, 2 steps back etc. I'm going to hold out at least until the September batch of cameras are leaked/ announced (the rumoured NEX in a DSLR form factor - APS-C not the FF one - could have potential, if it actually exists), but if they turn out to be dud then I'll go for a 2nd hand D5200....
or......
if they manage to get ML raw to work on it, a 2nd hand 7D? That could give you 50D-level RAW, but also regular H264, for when you're doing events, interviews etc
