Well, I don't know what happened first time around, but the 24H clips I shot with Cake 2.3 had no trouble playing back in-camera this time. And they seemed to span just fine.

Now I'll have to try 1080i/30.
 
1080i/30 (FSH) also seems to span without issue and plays back just fine in-camera using Cake 2.3.

I'm liking this hack. I only wish I could up the audio to 448 and still get in-camera playback.
 
Hi. What is the best hack that makes full use of a 95mbps card and is more or less stable? Is there a consensus on one or are there few that are good?

None is the best, you and many others around the world including myself have to run tests and several of them as your and my shooting styles are different.
 
Well, my latest round of 1080p/24 shots using Cake 2.3 were again unable to play in-camera.

Not sure what's going on here.
 
I'm shooting sketch comedy videos destined for YouTube. Do you guys think I should even bother with hack? Will I get a noticeable difference in image quality? Obviously, I want the video to look professional but I'm not making Paul Thomas Anderson movies here.
 
@mattman1 Well, there is an expanded ISO range in video (up to ISO 12,800) and improved audio settings (resulting in better AGC control and the ability to lower gain enough to reduce noise in many situation) in most of the new settings, so you might want to check it out for that if you need either one.

As for the visual compression side, it depends on how you shoot (typical lighting conditions, ISO, lenses, angles, shooting modes) and how sensitive you are to compression artifacts.

Here is an example of a situation where you probably won't notice much difference in 24H. Password: gh2

Thanks, Per. I do notice a different in the noise. I ended up going with the Sanity 5 patch since that seems to be the least demanding in terms of card speed. I also got your audio patch, which is great.
 
I'm sorry to ask this but
I hacked my GH2 about a year ago and haven't done anything to it since.
I want to put it back to stock settings, but for the life of me cant locate a non-hack hack.
I have the p-tools program and have searched personal view with no luck.

Any chance someone could link me to where I can find the stock settings file?

Thanks so much, I'm doing a very long form interview tomorrow and the 180mb hack thats on there now
is going to not work.

@Rippie

1) Open PTool.
2) Load the original Panasonic firmware version you want (normally GH2__V11.bin at the moment).
3) Make sure the "Version Increment" is checked at the top (in the version of PTool I use, it is checked by default).
4) Click "Save Firmware" (give it a proper but different filename like "GH2__V12.bin").
5) Take a newly formatted SD card and the BIN file in the root folder.
6) Insert the card first then turn on the GH2.
7) Push the play button and choose the firmware update option.

That is it. You do not need to download a setting.
 
@Rippie Btw, Sanity 5.1 has really low real-world bitrates (try it and see, don't just use the setting numbers) and they get lower if you switch to L mode so you could always load that instead if you wanted better image quality with a similar recording time.

Hello, I just bought a GH2 and I want something stable to install on it to go to filming the wedding,here on the forum are hundreds of pages and quite difficult to find something I'm interested in some recommendations possibly some rar archives with preinstalled settings.I read info beginners but many hundreds of pages are difficult to read even tot.am's attempt to take the Packet archives here in forum but sees only png file, no rar archives. is the first attempt hak GH2 and want to succeed .. if someone has kindly help me with some advice stable but quality settings, thank you very much
 
@liondor1969 If you are just getting started, go to the Personal-View site and register (this is where all settings are hosted and you must be a member, though this is free). Then look for the videos by the member mpgxsvcd - he's hosted them on YouTube. One of his videos covers every step you need to know to get started.

If you prefer written instructions, I provide some in the GH2 articles I wrote at www.pasadenapulse.net. Note that the audio settings I devised have now been used by almost every modern mainstream set of hacked settings, so most of the time they don't need to be changed anymore.
 
Thanks Per Lichtman,The site and we know that account there, but it is very difficult to find information quickly,hundreds of pages and discussions, try to find a faster way.I basically only interested in some settings to the GH2 can shoot the wedding, I have a C100.I had a GH3 and I sold,I bought GH2 just try to get better quality with haking.I'm interested in something stable that does not require color grading and run well on 1920x1080 25 PAL.I'll study your website, thanks..if anyone has a recommendation for shooting wedding hak, please
