GH2 Do lenses assist in causing noise?

I nabbed a 50mm 1.8 Nikkor AIS last week off ebay for around $70, and I have to say I love this little lens. I need to do some controlled testing, but it already appears a lot less noisy (and sharper, which is a comment many make) than my Canon FDs. I'd be really interested to know whether this is just a placebo, or if other people have had a similar experience.

Sharper? Possibe
Less Noisy? No

Noise is a function of the sensor and is affected by how much light a given lens provides it. So if two f1.8 lenses are way off (possible) you might notice a difference in noise. But lenses do not have an inherent "noise" factor.

Thanks for the confirmation!
