do I need a lcd viewer for my 60d?

you only have SD out, so for fine focus its nearly worthless to spend the money on an external monitor. all externals with HDMI or composite in will work.
 
Can you clarify this? I am increasingly far-sighted so I need the lcd screen of my 60D to be at least 18 inches away for my eyes to focus on it and I feel like a larger, external screen will help me focus. You're saying that no external screen will aid in focusing for a far-sighted person as many of us are?

Use the low angle Varavon ( ask first and see if it would fit) or Zacuto, with the Zacuto you have to use the sticky frame, just don't swing the lcd out with the viewfinder on, because I don't think the hinge is strong enough to support it, I remove my Zacuto before I swing it out, it is a little pia because you have to hold the lcd to pull out the zacuto, but I think the Varavon is much better design, I think I will get that one my 7D.
 
My inference from a conversation with Zacuto today was that you do not need to use the sticky frame with the 60D.
