By the way, there is nothing magical or sacred about 180 degrees. Film cameras have all sorts of shutter angles. I currently have four film cameras, not one of them has a 180-degree shutter; they range from 156 to 220 degrees, and they all produce images that look like film. 1/60 is well within the ballpark, and it avoids complications. When working with a CMOS camera, I advise to always use 1/60th in NTSC territories, and just forget 1/50th.
This is the first time I've seen this info about varying film camera shutter angles coupled with the 1/60 advice and it's really good to hear. I'd always shot pretty much locked down at 1/60 (NTSC land), but recently started to shoot at 1/50 outdoors in daylight simply because it was closer to 1/48. Nice to know it doesn't really make that much of a noticeable difference (if any) because anything that simplifies things, even a bit, is always welcomed. Thanks.
