GH2 DMW-DCC8 Dc coupler + Pearstone NP-F975 Lithium-Ion Battery (7.2V, 7600mAh)

Ok, so here is my question/idea.
Can you make the NP-F975 battery work with the GH2 by the DCC8 coupler?
My idea:
1. insert the "fake battery" of the coupler into the camera;
2. Somehow connect the NP-F975 battery to the dc coupler (by cutting the wire and making the right connections).
Would that work?
The NP-F975 battery is also 7.2 V but I don't know anything about other technical specifications of either batteries.
If it doesn't work with this battery, would it work with other kind of batteries o r maybe an external universal battery thing (with 7.2 V output)?

Because the DMW-DCC8 says 8.4v input and I tried with a 7.2v battery and my DCC8 and it didn't work. I plugged in a 8.4v ac adapter (non panasonic) and it works. I have not yet tried a 8.4v battery but I plan to soon.

I tried the same but with a tekkeon mp3450i battery, the camera did turned on but then a message appeared saying that it couldn't use that battery. I guess is the firmware checking for original batteries

Shoot! I only tried at 7.5V and since it didn't worked I returned it right away. I should have played with it a little bit more. I hope somebody else can make this works, but i suspect the firmware will keep blocking the battery even if you use the correct voltage.
Did you try with Tekkeon set to 7.5V or 8.4V?

I do not own the GH2, so have no way to test myself. It appears that the camera either wants to be powered by its own battery (communicating to it on the power up) or if it is an external power source connected via the DCC8 adapter, the voltage has to be in specific range. This is my theory, to be verified.

mmm I wish I still had the tekkeon battery with me to try it out at 8.4V, but so far at 7.2 it just doesn't works, it does powers up but it looks like the firmware locks it by displaying a legend on the lcd screen and then shutting down the battery.

I can confirm that a 8.4v battery works with the GH2 - I just picked up a RC car 4500mah 8.4v battery and held the wires into the battery port - powered up the camera, recorded a 10 second clip then shut it down. I will be soldering a custom cable and doing more tests soon.

Soarprod, where you using the Panasonics DMW-DCC8 dc coupler? Let us know if you have any success wiring the battery.

Hey Beernardo - I was using the DMW-DCC8 when I did the test. I held the wires on the battery side of things.

Thanks Soarprod, if you succeed I think I'll be buying the Tekkeon back again since I already have the brackets to use it with my cpm rig

Works great! Custom cable is done and solid. After letting the GH2 sit on for about 5 min, auto power off occurred. I powered up the camera again and was playing with the menus. Then the camera reported not able to use the battery and shut down. Not sure if its related to the charge of the battery, I will charge it up (its brand new out of the package) and try again.

Should give me around 3.5 times the normal gh2 battery life - put the new battery on a charger and it is saying that it was almost out of juice - I am hoping that the gh2 reported that it cant use the battery only because the battery was low.
