What about your stabalizing system took 3 weeks to figure out. I'm just getting into this part of the project. why do you need stabalizing on a dual line system? Thanks
Yea very cool! Now I see why your going with direct drive, maybe another option would be belt driven. Im using a belt driven system for my PTR (pan, tilt, roll) head. As its smooth and doesn't skip around, but at a high RPM it may not be the most effiecent. Especially with a heavy load.
About the patent, Yes I can, as no one else makes this (I've searched for months) and its more of a specific wheel, though im sure people will find many other uses. Once I get the patent pending approval, I will show you the design.
The stabilization is for incline/ decline +/- 25 degree slope. As I will have a PTR system(sometime extras) mount below the body, and I dont want the camera to have a tilt. Sorry I cant elaborate on this, as I don't want someone to take my idea, at least until I have completed it.
Nick did you cut the drive wheel profile yourself? This is a neat rig. Kudos for the design work. I would love to use something like this at a football game.
Im just waiting for a few parts to be finished by the Machinest/fabricator and should have everything done by next week. Once the frame is all together I will post pictures. And possibly a test run, though it wont have a camera mounted to it. Im waiting for a quote for my PTR, to begin production, but that shouldnt take anywhere as long as this to get done. As there are only a few Major components on it, and not as much tetious design work. Lets hope.haha
Looks awesome, my one suggestion though would be a safety wire. maybe a carabeaner mounted to it that does not tough the wire but clips around it. It looks designed pretty well, but it it ever derailed, that would suck.
On the final version of this dolly, the cable is completely captured. If a freak accident occurs, where the cable comes off all 3 wheels, it still would not fall. During all of our testing, this has never happened.
We just recently put together our 3rd prototype dolly. We have a new drive system which allows for smoother slow speed and high speed movement. We upgraded batteries; I have opperated the dolly for 6 days, and for 3-4 hours each of those days, without having to recharge them yet. The day we tested and shot some footage, it was really windy; and would occasionaly cause a sway in the video. Were still working to complete the electronic stabilization system. Here is the test footy I threw together.
As much as I want to share some pics of the new proto; I'm going to have to have to say, pics will be released soon. We are just trying to protect intelectual properties at this point.
Well guys,...... heres a few pics to quench the curriosity. We hope to have a 4th, and final version completed later this summer or early fall sometime.
this dolly is specificlly for POV or helmet cams; we did not feel the need for a complex pan/tilt/roll system. Once we have this POV dolly dialed in, we will start fabrication on a DSLR model that will have a sweet P/T/R system along with wireless video feed.
