GH2 DIY Remote Manual Focus Controller for DSLRs (LEGO!)

Hello fellow GH users. I've had this idea in my head for quite a while now; remotely controlling the focus using (I don't know the proper word) 'motor mirroring'. Basically using one motor as the "generator", and the other to control the focus. So it happens that I found my LEGO and made my idea! Really pleased with how it turned out, so I thought I'd make a video demonstrating it and to show it to everyone here (and probably on other forums too).

It's pretty darn useful for me personally, because of my shooting style. If you have LEGO, try and build yourself one. Mine took an hour, but I'm sure if one was to invest more time a better device could be created.

That was an awesome video! Great idea, there are remote follow focuses (foci?) that do the same kind of thing but wireless but they probably cost enough to build a few dozens (if not hundreds) of your lego invention.
All I wanted to say is that you're hilarious and that video gave me quite a big smile. Good job!

I built lego robots for years and never knew you could mirror the motors like that :crybaby:

Oh no! Haha! Well, you know now. :) When I first found out about it (I was about 9 or so), I couldn't quite believe my eyes! I, of course, thought that I'd made an amazing life-changing discovery that would change the world forever. My excitement was quickly quelled when I showed my dad... "Oh... that's... great, son" kind of response. :P

@Guttersurf I'm glad that you find me hilarious! :) Thanks very much for the compliment.
