I ordered it on Monday (3/23) and received it today (3/24). Had them cut a 762mm (30") for me as I can put it in my tripod bag. Cost less than $90 and it works beautifully. Thanks, Zazacast.
NEW STUFF FROM IGUS:
I just received an email from igus...they got some new goodies...including adjustable clearance guides! (remember some one made a break mod the same way)
Check it out here: http://www.igus.com/ApplicationCorner/DL_videos.asp
Watch the "DryLin® W linear guide with adjustable clearance " movie.
Can't wait to see what the incredible minds on this forum come up with next! Thanks to you all for continuing to develop and post in this thread...keep'em coming.
Interesting. But at least in my case, the bearings being lose was never the problem. Actually to the contrary as I seem to have too much friction. No need to make it tighter as it would probably just increase the friction and make it stick even more than it already does.
So I've finally got a project that warrants me buying the Igus gear. My main question is how silent it is when moving the slider? I'll be using it on a b-camera for some interviews , but that's only viable if it can't be heard at all.
Is there anyone in nyc that has one already that wouldn't mind me coming and taking a look before I order myself?
alternative to jbweld:
I would purchase a set of tap(standard unit) and tap a 3/8" threaded hole. add a locking washer and put a bolt through from the bottom of that sled. that way you keep everything clean.
I also tap 1.5" deep, 3/8" into the ends of the slider. this will allow me to adapt legs or add end-stops.
check harborfreight.com for tap set. its like 5-10bucks a set.
