DIY IndieSlider...

Well, lets underestimate and say 1000 people have bought these parts:

1000 people at
$160
= $160,000

Yup, they're making a killing...

... that's not counting the 'other' manufacturers using igus for sliders...you know who they are.
That's why I thought the ZazaSlider Feet were a good idea, they work with ANY igus rail product.

After seeing all the achievements on this forum, I decided to build my own zazaslider.
I just order the parts (WS-16-60 / 44"long & WW-16-60-10) from IGUS France, I paid
193,63 U.S. Dollars w/shipping and received in 7 days.
Big thanks to Zaza for inspiration and advice . Great DIY! Thanks Zazacast.....
Here are some pictures.

Woah, i posted on this thread a loong time ago when i first got my 'zaza slider' and its good to see it has grown to epic proportions!

Jacques54, those stoppers look nice, how did you achieve them? Reason i am back on this thread is i am looking for cheap stoppers and i finally want to upgrade my slider feet from the blocks of wood i am currently using :)

Beautiful build...and a long one too! Nice. The bubble level is a nice touch.
A pair of the feet would look great on that baby!

Where is that level from? I ask because it seems its just making it under. Other levels might not fit under.

I bought in France at "BricoDepot" and it cost me $3!! Happy because just the proper width to not interfere with the carriage !

Hey Andrew, [FONT=&quot]it's just a piece of an aluminum plate that I cut, filed and painted in black.

Just a heads up, Igus sent me a confirmation shipping email this morning. They said it was going to be 6 weeks, but they must have restocked early, because it's only been 3 days since I placed my order.

I just recieved confirmed shipment of my 1500mm slider. I don't even think that was 2 weeks. the lead time for the 1000mm sliders might be more though since thats what most people are doing. It'll be here Monday. Awesome!

Ryan, we must have gotten out shipping confirmations about the same time. Nice, we be sliding in no time!

Happy Sliding.

Finished- Finally!

Finished- Finally!

I wanted to do something different for the feet, so when I went to Home Depot, I found a nice piece of 1" x 2" fir (which in the world of lumber actually measures 3/4" x 1- 1/2").
I don't have a saw, so I cut it in the miter box at the store, then cut thin strips for the bottom of the feet (toes?).
I liked the fir wood, so instead of painting the feet flat black, I used satin polyurethane to seal and protect the wood.

I picked up some 1" Heavy-Duty Anti-Skid Pads to use as end stops.
They have a steel washer inside the rubber pad, which I had to twist out. Attached them with cap screws.

Tapped the center hole, the holes for the feet and the holes at the ends of the rail for the end stops.

Got 3/4" Vinyl Bumpers to put on the bottom of the feet so the feet won't slip or scratch.

I used the cap screws and hex nuts to attach the feet to the slider.

My tripod is a Sachtler DV 6SB head on Miller carbon fiber legs.
I wanted to be able to take the slider on and off the tripod easily, so I got a Manfrotto 701HDV head and an extra Sachtler quick release plate, which I put on the bottom of the slider rail.
I can level the main Sachtler head while looking at the Manfrotto bubble level, to level the slider, Manfrotto and camera.

Got the Filmtools 4"riser, which can be easily removed for ground level/table top shots.

The Miller legs are great because they spread to nearly ground level, and even spread half that wide, they are wide enough to be very stable with the slider.

The carriage can go smoothly to the end stops with the DVX100B, Century .7 Wide Angle, Marshall monitor and G2 wireless with no wobble or problems.

I've shot a little footage inside, need to edit it and get some good shots outside.
