I love these cups from Harbor Freight. I built two suction mounts simply by attaching bogen super clamps with mounting plates to these cups. We used them for a dual camera in car Canon 5d Mark II setup. In addition i built a car hood mount with two of them (4 cups total) and a plank of wood. I can mount a manfrotto 501 or 503 head straight to it and stick it to the hood.
if you do this please be safe and have some rope-tied or bungie cord safety mechanisms. I used them generously and we never had a problem, and didn't destroy two 5d's.
