Brevis Flip/ Ex1 test footage

that looked good phillip but the letus still looks like it has a slightly dreamier characteristic to it.i guess more of an organic look to the lex in my opinion.

As Philip wrote, he did a quick grading in Magic Bullet Looks.
Also, other factors come in to play - time of day and weather in general.

I would say the test would have to be a side by side comparison, but I am not sure we can ask anyone to do that...however, not too many own several adapters like he does ;-)

I'm stickin' with my Brevis - and the Ex-1 is in the mail, and honestly the footage looks great to me. I am just happy that he got the setup working.

Cheers.

I read a review on DV that rates the EX-1's ASA the same as the HVX at 320.

What are your test telling Phillip?

I know that you're not an official tester for this products, but I value you opinions.

Thanks in advance.

We're pretty happy about the false alarm on the EX1 too :-) The flip unit and related optics have been over a year in the making, and they represent an important advancement in the refinement of the Brevis imaging system. As footage starts to stream in from the large number of our existing customers who've taken advantage of our bundled pricing offer, I think you'll all agree it was worth the wait :-)

Douglas, my reading on the EX1 with regard to light sensitivity/image noise would suggest it's a significant improvement on the PD170's low light performance. If so, it's the first HD camera in that price range that can make that claim.

Hey, Phillip. Thanks for taking all the time to share your footage and tests on the forum lately.

Glad to hear that the issue with the Brevis Flip unit was as simple as having the unit mounted backwards :)

I have a question just for my own curiosity... Now that you have the Brevis Flip in the proper orientation, are you using spacer rings with it on the EX1 still or no?

Thanks.
Later,
Jason

i want to try and achieve better edge to edge with the brevis/ flip and ex1 on the wider lenses. I am going to try some spacers between the adaptor and flip to see what happens

I also have now been sent a letus flip unit for review which I will try on the Brevis soon. It's identical to the one Wayne will be selling with his sgpro.

Phil, which wide lenses are you testing? Also, I'd like to video link to you from our little studio to make sure you've got everything set up correctly.

Adding spacers between the flip unit and camera will likely change nothing...but you can certainly give it a try. I'm getting a feeling that the EX1 may be a bit similar to the FX1 and Z1U which show spherical aberration at close focus distances in our testing.

the biggest problem is the sigma 20mm f1.8 which works perfectly on the cf1l and the jvc hd200 but on the ex1 (only used it with the flip) as you saw has bad soft edges, albeit much worse using cf2le.
