I am long time Canon user. Own a Canon 5D Mkii, 7D and T3i. Just seen the light!!!! Planning on getting rid of them to get either GH2 or GH3. Right now I am more interested in a couple of GH3's. Is there any reason I should get hacked GH2's now than wait for GH3? (price difference not really an issue). Have varied selection of Canon lenses ...which is best adapter to use with GH cameras? Some say the moire is worse on GH3? Thanks for any input.

Where you from? I have a gig coming up and I need a 5d2 to shoot it on. You interested in possibly trading a gh2 and some glass to even out the cost of the 5d body?

Just wait for the GH3. It'll be worth it, especially since it's only a matter of weeks away. The whole moire thing is highly exaggerated, IMO, and it will be nearly unnoticeable for someone coming from the pre-Mk III Canon lineup.

I would say that it depends on how readily-available the GH3 is on release. If it's hard to come by at first, like the GH2 was, it may be worth it to just grab a GH2 now, get your lenses and rigging and workflow all set up, and then pick up your Gh3(s) when they're available.

If your willing to get a couple of cameras, you might as well get both the GH2 and GH2 unless you want the video quality to be a perfect match.

I think it's difficult to make a recommendation until the GH3 is actually available with 1.0 firmware. If you can wait till that happens, then wait. If you can't wait, a hacked GH2 will still be a good step up over what you have now.

i'm selling off my 5DMKII and buying a GH3.

i used to prefer the look of the 5D2 footage but recently started to actually dislike it. also was looking to get an external monitor for tilted camera shots from high and low angles but it just means more gear to lug around.

GH3 over GH2 for me as coming from the 5D2 tank i require a similar strength, sometimes the plastic on the GH2 feels like a McDonalds toy.

GH3 is a good manageable package for non big rig junkies :)

super shallow DOF has had its day, i feel its become a bit of a cliche and massively overused.

i know many guys don't shoot that way. yet for some there's temptation to shoot as wide open as possible on every shot.

Having a headphone jack and a standard 3.5mm audio in would be worth it for me to get the GH3. The 2.5mm is an annoyance and so is not being able to monitor on camera audio. I can't imagine the image quality will be worse than the gh2. The Gh2 is a great camera and cheap now so it wouldn't be bad to have a gh3 and a gh2.
