June 14th: Posted thread to Westfest Saloon
  • Stage: Pre-production
  • The script was finished a couple days ago, only took about 3 drafts or so.
  • Had already cast the film, but decided to recast the lead role after some consideration.
  • Still in the process of securing the primary location (I'm close though!)
  • About 50% done with some early visual fx work that will be implemented in post production.

June 15th: Costuming
  • Stage: Pre-production
  • Still working on some of the vfx materials.
  • Got all of the measurements for costumes, having a meeting with our costume designer tonight over pizza in order to talk about the look I'm going for. Hopefully going to accomplish the entire warddrobe for 4 characters on a budget of about $100 (well... kind of 4 characters, you'll see what I mean when you watch the film:Drogar-BigGrin(DBG) )
  • Yeehah! Just secured the location that I've been working on FOREVER. Got about 20 acres of land to work with.
  • Costume and production design meeting went really well. Got some great ideas brewing-- going to have to get them together over the next 2 weeks before we start shooting. Oi vey!

June 19th: Props
  • Stage: Pre-Production
  • Some of the props came in. Not going to say just what exactly, but one of them is very cool in my opinion. Made plans with the location owners to visit and take picture on Sunday. Hopefully I can post some stills later.
  • The costume/production designer Tess Olson has completed some awesome sketches of the characters. Now we just need to get all the costumes together (4 in total) for about 80-100 dollars! If only I had a few dollars more. Ha...get it?

Thanks yall! You might remember our entry to TwilightFEST- "Paired." It was the one about the laundromat that was eating this guy's socks (and eventually the clothes off his back). Romantic/comedy type. I think this one is going to leave that entry in the dust though (or should I say DIRT?) hah. :D
 
Yeehah! Just secured the location that I've been working on FOREVER. Got about 20 acres of land to work with. Super excited to go check it out tomorrow. I'll take some pics if I get a chance.

Soffcore: Thanks, its all photoshop. We haven't even been to the location with a camera yet.

Rogan: Haha, why? Because I'm in Florida? Sorry man, this western takes place in the real west. :D
 
I was in Florida in 06 and went to a place called River Ranch. They had a rodeo every Friday or Sat night, cool western saloon type dance hall, cowboys doing shootouts! Very western for a town thats not in the west!
The rodeo announcer asked if there was anyone from out of state. My wife and I raised our hands. He asked where we were from, we said Cali. He answered "welcome to the United States!":shocked: :violent5:
Florida would be wonderful except it was about four thousand percent humidly!
 
Slone- so true. I love florida, but when I walk outside it feels like I'm swimming in a frying pan.

Rogan- Haha, its not that, its just that the film takes place in the desert, which isn't exactly a hospitable environment for florida gators. A gator film would have been a good idea for my actual hometown though-- plenty of gator wranglers around.
 
Some of the props just came in. I won't say exactly what just yet, but things are coming together. Planning on shooting this over 3 days in the beginning of July (1st-3rd) and then just spending the rest of my life during the following 2 weeks doing the post-production.
 
So... heres a little production update...

Its been raining (Florida showers) on and off on my location for the last week... the main issue is that its been consistently storming during the exact shooting hours that I was planning for production. Even worse-- the weather statistics imply that it will continue to rain there for the next several weeks in the same fashion. This isn't good for me at all.... especially due to some time-sensitive production elements that I can't really go into depth about now. So I may have to do the most ridiculous work-around method I can think of to get this movie made. I am really devoted to finishing this project in time because 1) Its my favorite script that I've ever written 2) Its a fantastic directing exercise for me 3) I have already spent so much time and money on it.
