Hey everyone,
A friend of mine (Katherine Brooks) is currently in the process of getting ready to film her latest movie called "A boys Club". If you have heard of "Loving Annabelle" then thats her. She has also worked on "The Ozbournes" and "The Newlyweds"

Anyhow she is wanting to start up her "making of" project again like she did with her last movie where she documents everything she does during the film process and gives insight into the world of making a movie straight from the director herself. Anyhow unfortunately it requires money so in the spirit of raising funds we both started up this kickstarter campaign in hopes of raising the money in time before shooting begins in August.

Anyhow if any of you are interested there are some awesome rewards that Katherine is giving to people who donate to her project. Some of which include spending 1 to 2 days with her on the set during filming and you get to shadow her all day and learn first hand what it takes to make a movie.

If your keen just go to the link and go from there. It is definitely worth the experience if you get the chance to shadow this brilliant woman.

Why on earth do you need 20k to do a behind the scenes making of. Get an HV20 or something and give it to some random crew member.

Where's the making of for this? Is it a blog, a video? A book?

Hi,
With all the set up costs with the website and for the camera person and things like that it comes up to around that amount.

The making of will be posted on the website that she will set up. Videos will be posted frequently as well as blogs and people can interact on the website throughout the whole process.

lol ok. Guess you gals never heard of blogspot or typepad. Sounds like a bunch of weasels trying to scam some people by using kickstarter.

And it's funny you dodged my 2nd question.

Anyways, good luck with your niche lesbian market.

A portion of OUR money will go to feeding a Horse for Charity. WAHAHAHAHAHAHAH. That's ridiculous. First off we're funding a movie NOT a charity and 2nd, why on earth, with all the things wrong with the world would somebody make a charity to feed a horse? If you don't have enough money to feed your own horse, then sell it to somebody in SD. Poor out of work horses.

Let me just read this again and make sure I'm not seeing things.

Don't think it costs 20k, do you? Never said free anyway.

You said give it to a crewmember...who will ostensibly be paid for whatever part of the crew they are working on...so nothing extra to shoot this on an HV20...so additional work for free.

Not hard to figure out.

Sorry man I wasn't implying they work for free, just know it wouldn't cost that much. I mean if the film was really that good crew members would jump at the offer to help out just to get some brownie points.

"IF WE REACH OUR GOAL, A PORTION WILL GO TO MY CHARITY WHO WILL BE ABLE TO FEED A HORSE FOR AN ENTIRE YEAR!!"

Omgs, so that's where the moneys going. If I remember correctly there was some kind of actual crisis in the world happening... oh right the haitian earthquake, or I guess human life isn't worth saving compared to a horse...

I just feel human life is worth saving over an animal(s) in any situation, no matter how destructive or cruel we are.

Don't be an asshole over what charity she chooses to support. And a "portion" might just be $1000, leaving 19k to go to the development of the website and the shooting of the video. And that's probably a regular budget for that type of thing on a real film, not the cheap-ass PB&J catered indie films that are a dime-a-dozen.

Person, chill. They're swindling people, that's the main point I'm trying to make.

And just cause something cost a bajillion dollars doesn't make it good.

How? I'm open to the possibility (because there's so damn much of it in this biz), but I'd like to know specifically.

Sorry, I was kinda being a jerk. I just think it's funny that's all. My 2 cents. The websites a good idea, I know of a project called Oblivion that got funding through it. BUT I think 20k is a LOT of money to spend on a "making of" when your asking other people to put money down.

You see the hypocrisy? I don't have enough money to do something so I'm going to ask for A LOT from other people and then give some of it to my favorite charity.

Just seems like bad planning imo.

BUT I think 20k is a LOT of money to spend on a "making of" when your asking other people to put money down.

Do you also think that $35 million is a lot to spend on a film when you're asking other people to put money down as well?

Who cares? People spend money on stupid **** all the time. As long as she's going to do an actual project and pay the people who do the work on it a proper rate, then I don't care where she gets the money from.

Sounds like a scam to me, why would you need $20k to film a behind the scenes segment AND feed a horse?

Here's an idea. Get the horse, attach a cam to him and have him film the behind the scenes and all people have to pitch in is some hay, some water and the odd oats/sugar cubes/carrots/apples for treats. Horses love to work, why not exploit them for it :)
