my current setup is HVX --> Powerbook via firewire . Camera is set to 720/24p. FCP is set to DVCPRO HD - 720p24 48khz. Device control preset to DVCPRO HD Firewire. When plug in the HVX, it mounts on my desktop so i am connected. I've also imported the footages before so i know they are working together.

so how do I start the capture? I have the log and capture windo open and the VTR is ok...but when i press record on the hvx and press capture now on FCP, nothing happens. I'm pretty sure i'm missing a step somewhere.

also, is there a way to get back to the Camera mode once your in PC.DUB mode without shuting down the camera? I press same button again but nothing happens.

thanks!

LeeJam,

As I understand it, you are going to the log and capture window to bring in the P2 footage? Instead of going into "log and capture" go to "import" and choose the Panasonic P2 option. If your drives are mounted on the desktop you should see the clips under the import window. Select import all and final cut should start to bring in your clips. They go straight into your bin and you are off and running in the editing process.
In terms of getting back to the camera mode, I haven't figured that out yet either. I eject each drive from the desktop then turn the camera off and unplug it from the computer. That is just the way that i have been doing it but there could very well be another way to go. Hope that helps.

I want to real time capture into my HD or ext. HD on my laptop. I've already tested the P2 import fuctionality which works great but I can't figure out how to shoot and record at the same time on FCP.

anyone?
