Dilemma

I have a big dilemma, I am looking to buy a camera and I am having trouble deciding between the DVX100B and a Cannon XL1s (used).

The DVX100B has 24p but I like really like Cannon and the XL1s seems like a very nice camera and I'll have some money left over.

Yeah I know but that's the problem I'm not sure how important 24p is to me I've been watching short films shot with both cameras- both look nice. Also I wonder if I should even consider a used camera....
The body of the XL1s is important- it's nice and very modular lens wise.
But the DVX100B has that 24p...

end your dilemma and get the DVX even if its a used one. you wont be sorry. unless you are doing mostly nature shooting then the XL series may have a benefit lens wise.

The XL1, even the XL1s, is a pile of steamy dog poo comparred to the DVX. On its own its a legit rig but DVX>>>>>>>>>>>>XL1S

Maybe the XL2 but I can't see how the XL1 would really compare to the DVX. The 24P really makes that camera a cut above the XL1's. They are great but I think this is sort of like comparing a middleweight to a heavyweight.

You gotta use the search. There's no way around it my friend. There has to be literally, HUNDREDS of posts just like this. It's ultimately YOUR choice what you decide. Comparing the XL1s and the DVX is like comparing apples and oranges - if you're considering the DVX, compare it with something like the XL2 as stated or if HD is of a concern to you, the XH-A1.

Grab a beer, some chips, type in your search, kick back and absorb all the information. People's opinions on cameras no longer matter and seriously...you're on DVXuser, the mass majority will suggest it.

Yeah I know haha it's pretty biased but still I was just looking for opinions over the past few days I've been going crazy between both the DVX100 and the Xl2.

DVX vs XL2 the DVX would win every time for me except if you had to have interchangeable lenses or true widescreen. In my opinion that is the only thing the XL2 has on the DVX.

Why get either when you could have this:

I really don't think the DVX or XL1s even compare...

DVX

Don't even look back.

You will kill yourself if you do. :violent5: :Drogar-Shock(DBG):

I asked the same question a few years back and now scoff at the proposition.

DVX Baby ! 24p or death !

Alright I guess I'll go with the DVX however that PXL 2000 is very tempting...

EDIT: I just purchased a DVX100B thanks everybody.
