Digital Memory Cards

I've looked around this thread but haven't found a thread dealing with Digital Memory Cards.

Is there one already where you guys discuss various brands?

I am using SanDisk 16GB Extreme III - 30MB but they are pricey and I want to buy cheaper ones that will not bite me in the butt in the middle of a shoot.

Any suggestions?

I have a Class 4 Kingston that seemed to do quite well. I ended up getting a Class 6 Sandisk Extreme II rated at 20 MB/s though, as additional memory. The Kingston does 10 MB/s write, I think.

Edit: Realising that 10 MB/s is way below the AVCHD bit rate, I thought I'd try a Class 2 card for kicks. It recorded a 3 minute 30 second clip with a lot of movement and detail just fine. Makes me wonder if the camera's buffer is compensating somehow.

Fastest AVCHD (1920x1080) - with Canon 5DMkII and Canon SX1 = 43 Mbps ... these are 5.4 MBps! Camcorders use 17-24 Mbps!

Each CLASS 6 card is fast enough. My (cheap) Transcends Class6 writes with 12 MBps and reads with 18 MBps.

More (to pay) is overkill. Sandisk dealers rub their hands :-)

So which card do you recommend? Also, does the camera come with a card? I just ordered mine and it will be here tomorrow.
