From what I've read the AC90 and AC90A only differ in the software/firmware and nothing in hardware but what's with the AC90APJ?

One of the dealers I called had a separate listing for the AC90 and AC90A where the AC90A is actually abit more expensive than the regular AC90.

I know that the AG-AC90 series has had a range of letter designations...pre the "A" I think they were regional designations between various world regions...

The AC90A really was the firmware upgrade that added a flurry of new features/recording modes....and all indications are that updating the firmware on the AG-AC90 made it an AC90A.

So there is no reason for a price change other than marketing opportunity. Can't find any difference between AC90A and AC90APJ in the descriptions...but maybe I missed something...
