C100: Did anyone just see the 2 New Blackmagic cameras.

If you sell your C100 for a new BM you"ll regret it, now now "but soon and for the rest of your life!" :)

URSA is about 6x larger than the C100. When asked at the show when it will ship BM said exactly the same as last year. Somehow a current BM owner had doubts.

Will post pics when I get a better connection. No viewfinder on URSA, the swing out 9" monitor looks huge! Expect a repeat of the same delivery and alpha firmware issues. The studio cam probably has a future in industrial/ corporate studio shoots even if it has to be updated. Neat config, definitely not a location Cam.

Definitely not a wedding/live event cam -> I shot on the weekend, C100 and Red Scarlett. The Scarlett had to be powered off after every take, etc etc etc, I quickly realized it wouldn't be feasible to use it for what I primarily need my C100 for.

Looks promising, definitely not in the same space as the C100/300 though.

Essentially the Ursa is their 4K production cam from last year in a big heavy body....so it will still not match a C100 in low light, still lacks ND filters, will still have aliasing....unless of course they put an OLPF in there. It's upgradeable, which is cool...but, as is - go look at BMC 4K footage...and that is what you will get from the URSA.

The Ursa is a big bear of a camera. Attach an iPad to a biscuit tin, fill it with 10 bags of sugar and then work out how to fit an EVF. The Ursa is a 'crew' camera, not an ENG or event camera.

I simply love the idea of swapping out sensors, so I can have a 2/3" B4 one day (for run-around stuff) and S35 the next (for all the GVs and interviews), but not at any price.

I'm afraid I was smitten by the AJA Cion, right up until we got to 'PL Only' and 'no NDs'. Buzzer - 'next!'

A7S - back to DSLR? Sigh, not tonight. GH4? Entirely new set of lenses.

C100 - am I really missing anything? Well, yes. 10 bit. Other than that, as everyone has said - here's a unit that just works. It makes beautiful pictures in a neat package with all the niceties of C-Log, NDs and good audio. Are my clients demanding more? No. If I change camera, will I be able to charge more? No. So, I'll just sit back and enjoy the circus for now.

Personally I haven't seen any blackmagic cameras out in the wild; and the first BMP4K camera out here had it's touch screen die after a single day of use. I know that BMD will make good on replacing it but the lead time is awful.

I'm with you on almost all of that. But I must say the A7S still is making me think a bit but definitely not as an all round solution as the C100 is.

I've been tempted by a 1DC style camera for a while but not at $10000, that's the part of me that is interested in the A7S but I'm not sure it'd fully replace the C100.
