Hi-
i use a transcend 32G class 6 in my GH2. (* i THOUGHT they were considered reliable... ARE THEY?)
i recently had some weird defects while shooting:
some random shots started getting 'bit and pieces' from other shots on the card.
since then i deep format the card via PC and then again in the camera.
but i still get those errors. they are pretty random and impossible to predict.

did anybody ever had this kind of problem ?
i first need to know i'm not alone in this..

i mainly fear it might not be the card's fault...
but i sure WISH it was just the card.

thanks !

Have you tried another card?

I haven't had that problem but I did have 2 Transcend cards go bad while in my Gh1. the 2nd was a replacement from the retailer and was likely of the same mfg. lot. Switched to Sandisk and haven't had any issues since. Lost everything on the cards at the time.

thanks.
no i don't have another card yet. i'm way over my budget, and sandisk are triple price.
first i want to find out the source of the problem , card or not card.
so even after successive deep formatting and error checking a card can cause these problems ??
i'm afraid to invest in a new one and find out it's the camera..

Wouldn't it be more reliable to buy more of smaller sized cards instead of one big one? It will be more cumbersome to switch cards though. my 16GB trasend and sandisk are reliable.

I might have no choice and buy a smaller size..
Does size has anything to do with reliabilty?
what I need to know is how to find out if it might be the GH2.
and if it is, can I somehow try to solve it through the camera?

I don't go above 16GB. Whether bigger size gives more problems I don't know. But I'd rather use 2 x 16GB and only lose half my work than all of it.

I don't know of any other way to test the issue except with a different card.

And in all the time I have spent reading posts on these forums, my impression is that if a problem occurs, it very often is a Transcend card.

thanks stoneinapond..
very good advices and input on the Transcend brand.
i got wiser before it got too late :)

I have never had any cards go bad. I use 8,16, and 32 GB transcend cards and 8 and 16 GB Sandisk Ultra cards. I have never seen a difference in any of them. The best way to test if the problem is the card or the camera is to buy a really cheap card and try to reproduce the issue. If you can produce it with another card then it is most likely not an issue that is isolated to that single card.

As I've said before, ALL brands of memory cards have the chance of being corrupted. I have had no problem with Transcends but I have had problems with Sandisks. I would still use either brand, recognizing that there is a chance that the wafer of memory that I receive may become corrupted. Therefore the main determinant for which brand I buy is the warranty. Transcend has a lifetime warranty while Sandisks generally have a 5 year warranty unless you want to spend 2-3x as much for an Ultra card (which has a lifetime warranty).

If you bought a Transcend card and you think it's buggy just send it to them for a replacement. This is what I would do at the first sign of trouble. Also, if you want to rule out the card as the problem here, perhaps you could find someone to borrow a card from? Everyone has digital cameras these days, you've got to know someone with an SD card that you can test with.

thanks for all your answers..
first i'll find the receipt for the warrenty ;)
problem is that the card 'appears' to be fine. so why would they change it?

Simple, you don't have to crack your card in half for it to be corrupted. They know that and shouldn't give you any problem with exchanging it.
