Detachable lens

I would like a proper wide to zoom on it. 24 - 180mm is a the normal range I use in photography. Why do most video cameras have 45 - 600. You can't even shoot a room of people with that.

It would be nice if they made the camera like the canon and since Canon is getting some technology from Panasonic it would be no big deal to make a mount that allows the use of Canon's lenses on the body.

I think you are on to something. When I look at the 300mm lens on the RED website, the lens looks just like a Canon L-series lens, except it is black instead of white. Just my observation.
I wish we could get a 28-300mm zoom, similar to the one Canon sells for the EOS. Although, the barrel does extends out. I think most people want something that does exerything internally, and doesn't expand in external dimensions.

Well the RED 300mm doesn't look like the Sony 300mm (which is a result of the merger/takeover of Minolta.)

Actually the Sony looks just like the Canon. I am so confused. Well I know The RED is not using a modified manual focus Contax lens. I guess this RED lens is an original design. Someone must be making it for them. Surely they are not making it inhouse.

I think they are being made in house since Oakley Sunglasses, is owned by the same person. And if I'm not mistaken, they make the sunglasses themselves, meaning the glass lens in them. So if they're able to make a camera, they certainaly are able to make a lense housing and then they make sunglasses, which would mean lenses. I don't see how they wouldn't make them themselves. Actually Red and Oakley are currently in the same building.
