SHORT: Deleted (Action Film)

I think this had a lot of potential but failed to really go anywhere. I'll just start from the beginning:

1. The acting was amateur at best. In some places it actually wasn't terrible, but the talent really didn't have much to work with. The dialogue was very trite and stereotypical.
2. The story was an okay premise for an action film, but not much happened with it...just felt like another action scene.
3. The camerawork needs a lot of...well, work. Handheld is okay, but it felt like you just picked up a camera and told your actors to make something up. Anytime you tried to do a rack focus or any kind of focus pull it felt very awkward. Especially around 1:55ish when you have the side view shot and it randomly hunts for focus. Turning off the camera's auto settings and going full manual would be a big step towards getting a better look. Which leads me to my next point...
4. Lighting. The whole thing was lit with practical light, which is fine sometimes but most usually it leads to a more amateur look unless it's used appropriately. Also, bringing in lights would allow you to turn off the camera's auto settings when shooting from indoors to outdoors, so you're not suddenly blown out when you go outside.
5. Audio needs a lot of work as well. The music sounded like it was clipping the whole time and the fight audio (punches, kicks, etc.) felt very fake.
6. Choreography also needs work. A lot of the fights, for me, just felt like they lacked impact. When one of the guy's got thrown to the ground, it looked like he was purposefully landing easy. That kind of stuff really takes the viewer out of the scene.

That's about all I can think of. Props for trying, but there's a lot of stuff you need to work on as well. If you're dedicated you can take the basics you used in this film and apply them and learn and make some really tremendous films in the future. Best of luck to you on future projects!

Some of the action was not bad at all. Looks like you have a pretty good eye for this stuff. There were a few things that did look a little fake and the pacing during the chase could have been a little quicker in spots, but you did some good work. I like several of the walking shots, like when the guy was walking back to the house and walked by the statue and the pillar by the door. The story could have been better, but this was mainly an action sequence, so I'm more forgiving of it. Keep at it - I see potential.
