Deinterlacing HVX200 in AVID

I haven't had too much time to mess around with it, so thought I would ask to see if someone had the answer.

I shot some green screen footage on the HVX200 in DVCPRO50 mode 480i/24p

The HVX puts the pulldown in there on the fly to format it into a 29.97 signal.

If I try to load it into a 24p project template (SD) in AVID Xpress Pro HD, I can't import the video (wrong format) but it works in a 29.97 project, which really makes sense anyways.

Enough rambling, basically I am wanting to find a way to export back out the progressive frames to use in a keying progam... right now I am using QT references which are nice to get a QT wrapper around them very quickly so the keyer can use them, but the fields are just plain nasty.

thanks for the help.

The frames are already progressive, they are merely stored in an interlaced 480i video stream.

avid doesn't remove pulldown unless you capture though the firewire. I did the following to combine 24p DV25 footage from p2 cards to mix in with a 24p dv25 timeline that contained mainly dvx footage:

create a 29.97 project, import footage from p2, export each clip seperately from timeline with quicktime reference, import into after effects, remove pulldown, export with high quality codec (i used animation), import into avid 24p (23.976) project.

this may work, but haven't tried it: playback your footage from your HVX through the firewire to the capture device in avid, being set for a 24p project- it should remove the pulldown. however you'll have to swap your p2 data on and off your p2 cards.
